Was doing some "Two-Tracking" in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area and came upon this old homestead on a pond. What a peaceful place! If you walk west of the cabin through the woods, about a 30 minute walk... you come out to a secluded beach on the shore of lake Michigan.

Michigan is the nation's top producer of tart cherries, which are used in pie filling and other products. Orchards in a five-county section of the northwestern Lower Peninsula account for about 80 percent of the U.S. crop — about 180 million pounds a year.


The early bloom from the record heat in March resulted in 80-90 percent bud kill on (tart) cherries.
and 40 - 60 % of the apple trees had bud kill caused by the recent cold snaps.

The Pierce Stocking scenic drive was still closed for the season so we walked the two miles to the Lake Michigan overlook #9. An approaching front blocked our chance of a perfect sunset, but I got a couple of nice shots of my wife looking out from the bluff 450ft above Lake Michigan.
