"Empire Bluff" Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Some young people enjoying a campfire and watching the sun go down on Esch road beach, Empire Bluff Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Gotta love Michigan's Great Lakes shorelines. You can walk hundreds of miles of pristine national lakeshores.

"Otter Creek" Sleeping Bear Dunes National lakeshore

I went to Esch Beach to get a sunset shot with the Empire bluffs in the background but I was having too much fun wading the Otter Creek and noticed the sun was inline with the mouth of the stream so this is what I shot.

"Otter Creek Sunset" Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Mouth of the Otter Creek at Lake Michigan's Sleeping Bear Dunes. I saw a beautiful Bobcat by this little stream but he ran off before I got my camera out of the bag. What a beautiful animal. I had a blast wading in the Otter Creek, the water was surprisingly warm for this early in the year.

Morgan Falls - (Morgan Creek) Marquette , Michigan

This is an interesting intersection where the Morgan Creek empties into the Carp River. I've been a Michigan waterfall enthusiast for most of my life and still haven't come close to seeing them all. Morgan Falls only drops about 20ft. but it's a pretty little waterfall to visit. It didn't turn out to bad considering the way the tripod was humming from the strong current. The water temps were quite exhilarating this time of year.

The photo below was taken just above the falls.

"Cabin Reflections" Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Was doing some "Two-Tracking" in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area and came upon this old homestead on a pond. What a peaceful place! If you walk west of the cabin through the woods, about a 30 minute walk... you come out to a secluded beach on the shore of lake Michigan.

Looks pretty sweet on black!

Grand Sable Dunes - (Log Slide) Pictured Rocks National lakeshore

This was one the most beautiful sunrises I have seen , it had a rainbow of color across the sky. When I was a kid we would run to the bottom of this dune down to the lakeshore . If I remember right it's 4 or 5 hundred feet above Lake Superior. Years ago the loggers used this spot to slide timber down to the lake. There is a sign at this location telling of a story about a logger in a boat below the slide, that was hit by a log that had skipped when it hit the water decapitating him instantly!
