Wintertime at Miners Castle - Michigan's Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

I 'm getting anxious for backpacking this area in a few weeks. My wife and I have been getting geared up for some back-country camping. It's been such an incredibly warm winter it just amazes me. Hopefully we will have a nice warm spring with lots of wildflowers.

This is another shot similar to one I have already uploaded, just sharper and slightly different angle and better lighting .

St. Anne's Catholic Church, Mackinac Island, Michigan

I was looking through some of last years stuff that I hadn't selected to edit ,and found this shot I forgot I even took. It was taken form the ferryboat as we were arriving to Mackinac Island. This Island has a Lilac Festival every spring. If you like Lilacs take a trip here, it's loaded with ancient ones that are as big as a normal tree. There's so many of them you smell the fragrance all across the Island.

The sunrise photo below was taken from the hill you see behind the church , the next morning VERY EARLY the next morning after my wife's snoring woke me up. :)

Ludington North Breakwater Lighthouse - Ludington,Michigan

Every time there's spray in the air...the gulls will there as well. I was on my way to Big Sable Lighthouse and decided to stop in Ludington on the way to get a shot or two. Nothing impressive as far as wave action but it's an OK shot I guess, didn't want to send it to the trash file.

This is one of the places I need a longer lens. My 70 -300mm is a little soft at the long end plus I still need more reach, this light is way out there on the end of the pier.

"Singing Sands" Ludington State Park - Ludington, Michigan

The sand is soft and off-white, known as "singing sands" because of the squeaking noise (caused by high quartz content) made when one walks across it. I love Michigan's pristine beaches.

"A Guiding Light" Big Sable Point Lighthouse - Ludington, Michigan

This is one of the tallest lighthouse towers in Michigan at 112 ft. The original tower was yellow cream brick which deteriorated from the elements ,so the entire tower was covered with a steel plate encasement in 1900. There was no roads to Big Sable so all materials were brought by ship.
