Eagle Harbor Lighthouse Sunrise,Eagle Harbor, Michigan

We spent the night in the little town of Eagle Harbor Michigan's Upper Peninsula, beautiful little town. If your ever in Copper Harbor...a few miles North , get your dinner at the "Harbor Haus" restaurant. The view from the dining area is fantastic, and the German food is INCREDIBLE. If your a beer drinker, try the locally brewed Widow-maker!

Manabezho Falls Presque Isle river, Porcupine Mountains State Park

In the Spring, or other times of high water, this falls is very wide. But in Summer it flows mostly from one side. Just downstream there's a suspension (Footbridge) where the famous "potholes" can be seen. The river carved them into the gorge.

Presque Isle river (Potholes) Porcupine Mountains State Park

These interesting curved shapes carved into the rock on the Presque isle river are photographed by lots of photographers each year. I haven't been here when the light was optimal, or when the water levels were just right, having some water flow over each pothole. I've been there early spring when the water is so high it goes complete
ly over them, hiding the curves. This year we had drought conditions so some of the potholes had no water at all. Still though, very beautiful and picturesque . One of the most beautiful locations in Michigan.

Autumn at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

What's happening along these sandstone cliffs is amazing. It's like something is turning a crank and rolling the
forest floor over the edge.. What's interesting too, is how the trees start growing again along the shoreline, and on the sides of cliff walls. This photo was taken between Chapel beach and Mosquito beach.

"Black Valley" Michigan's Porcupine Mountains State Park

I was shooting some shots of the carp river valley and the tops of the treeline was lit but the valley back behind was dark. I spot metered the trees and came up with this.

The old 510 Dead river Bridge Marquette, Michigan

This bridge was originally located on the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania. It was purchased by the Michigan State Highway Department in 1919, and erected at it's current Marquette County location in 1921. It's a beautiful view in the fall... reminds me of the South.

One of our favorite places in Michigan, we have been camping here for over 30 years. This is a photo of the Harbor and the North Country Trail, where it crosses the river via a suspension footbridge. "Sugarloaf Mountain Sunrise" Marquette, Michigan

I almost lost my camera bag while taking this pic. I bumped it with my foot and it started tumbling down the that rock outcropping. I quickly grabbed my tripod and caught the strap of the bag with one of the legs just before went over the edge!!.
