Grand Sable Dunes - (Log Slide) Pictured Rocks National lakeshore

This was one the most beautiful sunrises I have seen , it had a rainbow of color across the sky. When I was a kid we would run to the bottom of this dune down to the lakeshore . If I remember right it's 4 or 5 hundred feet above Lake Superior. Years ago the loggers used this spot to slide timber down to the lake. There is a sign at this location telling of a story about a logger in a boat below the slide, that was hit by a log that had skipped when it hit the water decapitating him instantly!
